We believe you should know exactly how the words and pictures on this site get made. This page explains it — no fine print, no lawyer-speak.
Who is responsible for this site
The Feline Advisor is an independent publication run by two humans (and supervised, closely, by two cats — Zoe, Editor-in-Chief, and Nala, Head of Quality Assurance). Editorial responsibility for everything published here rests with us, the humans. If something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
How our articles are made
We use AI tools as part of our writing process. Here's what that means in practice:
- Research and drafting: Some articles begin life as AI-assisted drafts, built from our research notes, topic outlines, and editorial guidelines.
- Human review, always: No article is published automatically. Every post is reviewed, edited, fact-checked and approved by a human before it goes live. Anything that doesn't meet our standards gets rewritten or binned.
- Health content: Articles about cat health are informational only and always defer to professional veterinary advice. When in doubt about your cat's health, see your vet — not a website, ours included.
Product reviews are different
Our reviews are first-hand. We buy every product with our own money — no freebies, no sponsored placements, no exceptions. Products are tested for weeks in a real home by our own cats before we write a verdict. The opinions, the anecdotes, and the paw ratings are ours (well — theirs). AI tools may help us polish the prose, but nobody outsources the litter box testing.
Images
Product photos in our reviews show the actual products we review. Some illustrative images elsewhere on the site (for example on general advice articles) are AI-generated and are used for decoration, not as evidence. We're progressively replacing these with our own photography — the cats are reluctant models, but we're winning.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links, clearly marked. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence ratings — see the review policy above, and note that our Editor-in-Chief cannot be bribed (we've tried; it only works with Vitakraft, and she still writes what she wants).
Questions?
If anything here is unclear, or you spot something that looks off, contact us. We read everything. The cats read nothing, but they judge us anyway.
